This listing is for a rough slab of Triple Flow Obsidian, aka Mahogany Obsidian, from Glass Butte Oregon, 100% natural. It can be used for lapidary to make cabochons or as a display specimen.
Triple Flow Obsidian is a gorgeous form of mahogany obsidian that often has multiple grains and currents of flow. Tri-Flow normally includes clear, black and brown/red obsidian mixed. These mixes of colors may be parallel flows, or random mixes looking like stirred mixture or it may be splotchy. The color generally comes from Magnetite that was present in the lava flow.
In addition to its decorative use, obsidian has been used to make smooth and sharp surgical blades and arrowheads due to its lack of cleavage and acute edges when broken. Stone Age people used obsidian for weapons and implements, Native Americans formed it into arrowheads and the Incans used it for weapons, mirrors and masks.

This is what Marci from FL had to say about our Triple Flow Obsidian: I'm collecting various types of obsidian and this Triple Flow is so beautiful and is absolutely a work of art with the pattern of the lava current! Lava is fascinating...and the contrasting colors are stunning. I just love this specimen as well as EVERYTHING I have purchased from Tonya and Tim! I enthusiastically recommend them and their shop!
