This listing is for a rough slab of Zebra Calcite from Mexico, 100% natural. It can be used for lapidary to make cabochons or as a display specimen.
Zebra Calcite is a striking variety of calcium carbonate distinguished by dramatic, wavy, black, white, cream, and sometimes honey-brown stripes. Also known as "phantom calcite" or "butterfly calcite", this naturally occurring mineral is almost exclusively sourced from mines in Mexico.
The distinct "zebra" pattern forms when calcium-rich water deposits layers of calcite inside fractures and cavities in limestone. Variations in temperature, pressure, and mineral content cause rhythmic banding. The dark stripes get their color from trace mineral inclusions—such as manganese or iron—while the lighter layers are pure calcite.

The measurements provided are at the widest part and are close approximations. The piece(s) shown in the pictures is what will be shipped to you.
Some pictures are taken with the stone wet while others are dry. These are rough, not polished pieces.
This is what Ondrea from WA had to say about our gemstone rough: Exactly as shown in the pictures; carefully packed and shipped quickly; highly recommend this seller!
